Julio C. Porteiro

Julio César Porteiro has more than fourty years experience advising in investment projects, financial and economic analysis, business valuation, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring  and organizational learning.

Porteiro has participated in projects financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).


Porteiro was the President of Nuevo Banco Comercial S.A., the largest private bank in Uruguay until June 2006, leading its restructure and sale to international investors. He has also served as President of the Association of Certified Public Accountants, Economists and Managers of Uruguay and was reappointed in November 2005 for a three year period as a member of the Developing Nations Committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Julio has taught for more than fourty years in the Business School of the University of Uruguay.  He is a Full Professor and is in charge of designing and teaching courses in Analysis of Investment Projects and Decision Making Techniques at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  He has also taught in many latin-american countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras and Paraguay).

Porteiro is author of several books and articles and an active participant in conferences and international professional meetings.

A native of Uruguay, Julio C. Porteiro is a Public Accountant from the Business School of the University of Uruguay. He made post-graduation studies in Management of Development Projects at the University of Pittsburgh (USA) and post-doctoral studies on Preparation, Evaluation and Management of Investment Projects at the Ministère de Finances in Paris,  while a Scholar of the French Government.

He is fluent in Spanish, English and French and has working knowledge of Portuguese.

Esteban Lemes Ferreira

Esteban Lemes has sixteen years experience advising in financial and economic analysis, business valuation, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring and the design and implementation of privatization and concession strategies. He has a diverse industry experience including among others, airlines, electricity, financial services, hotels and resorts, manufacturing, solid waste management, telecommunication and small and medium-size enterprises.

He has also experience in quantitative business/financial analysis, cost/benefit analysis, forecasting, and statistical analysis.

Lemes has also participated in projects financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). He has completed over thirty consulting assignments for private and public consulting clients in the Americas and Africa.

Mr. Lemes has taught for more than fifteen years in the Business School of the University of Uruguay.  He is an Adjunct Professor and he has been in charge of courses in Corporate Finance, Analysis of Investment Projects and Statistics at both the undergraduate and graduate level. He is also the Director of the MBA Program of the University of Uruguay and a Professor at the University of Montevideo.

A native of Uruguay, Esteban Lemes is a Public Accountant from the Business School of the University of Uruguay. While a Fulbright Scholar, he earned a Master in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Finance at the University of Maryland (USA).

He is fluent in Spanish and English and has working knowledge of Italian.

María Gabriela Porteiro

María Gabriela Porteiro has sixteen years experience advising in investment projects, strategic management and financial analysis.

She has participated in projects financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and has a diverse industry experience including among others, financial services and insurance, cattle raising, dairy products, forestry&paper, leather, mining, pharmaceutical and rice.

Just in the last three years she has been in charge of more than 40 Investment Projects, which have been declared of National Interest and received fiscal benefits from the Uruguayan Government.

Gabriela has also taught for more than twelve years courses in Management and Strategy in the Business School of the University of Uruguay and in the University of Montevideo.

Born in Uruguay, María Gabriela Porteiro is a Public Accountant from the Business School of the University of Uruguay. She was granted a Fulbright Scholarship and a Tyser’s Fund Scholarship and earned at the University of Maryland (USA) a Master in Business Administration focused on Strategy and Management&Organization.

She is fluent in Spanish, English and French and has working knowledge of Portuguese.
